Body Technician

- Repair collision damage: fix dents, scratches and other accident damage, including straightening bent panels, welding cracks and replacing severely damaged parts.
- Prepare vehicles for repair: disassemble parts, remove dents and dings, and clean and prep surfaces for painting.
- Maintain a safe work environment: follow safety protocols, use personal protective equipment, and keep your workspace clean and organized.
- Work with estimates: help assess damage and create accurate repair estimates.
- Teamwork: collaborate with other technicians and shop staff so repairs are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
Basic Skillset
- Metalworking: hammering, straightening, welding and cutting steel, aluminum and other metals used in car bodies.
- Auto body knowledge: familiarity with vehicle structures and materials and proper repair techniques.
- Attention to detail: matching paint, aligning panels and achieving a smooth, factory-like finish.
- Tool proficiency: safe use of hand and power tools and body shop equipment like welders and spray guns.
- Safety awareness: following protocols for fumes, dust and sharp objects and using PPE.
